SCHOOL TO FARM FIELD DAYS
School to Farm field days are hands-on learning days made fun at a local farm with the help of NHAITC and other volunteers from various Ag organizations. The children are treated to different stations that cover various topics ranging from marine touch-tanks, maple sugaring, conservation and nutrition to watching cows in the milking parlor to learning about the activities of a bee hive as they actually watch through a glass windowed hive. Some school to farm field days are held annually such as the UNH field days that host over 1,400 children over a 3 day period while others are hosted by small family farms that enjoy the local school children coming for a day to visit.
If a school is interested in such a field day they should contact NHAITC to see about the possibilities of providing one for their students, typically these are offered in the late spring and they are open to both public, private and home schooled children.
Cost: A donation fee of $1.00 is requested for each student, otherwise the farm and the presenters donate their time and energy for this fun filled day.
